Project 1- part 1

A video based on our group research on Massimiliano Fuksas, a modern day Italian architect.
It was an interesting project as through my research, I did not only know Fuksas's works but a lot of other architects as well.
I really enjoyed discovering what details they implied into their designs which make it so special.
As Mies van der Rohe once said,
"God is in the detail."
Project 1- part 2

Detailed drawings of the Nardini Research Centere and Auditorium by Massimiliano Fuksas based on our researches.
It wasn't an easy task since there's not much information on the building itself but I am glad I had an amazing group who did well with this even though there are mistakes here and there.
It was through this project I first realized facts about distillery such as underground effect to the wines, what they need, why are the designs built that way.
Project 1- part 3
Individual model based on our analysis towards the design ideas behind the Nardini Research Center and Auditorium.
Project 2- part 1
A field trip to Pantai Kerachut in Penang! Yeahhh! And the Botanical Garden too.
It was exciting, not just because I love hiking and the beach, but being able to experience the Meromictic Lake is not something you get everyday! The ranger actually took us into the lake barefooted and let us feel the difference in the warmth of the lake.
Overall it was fun. Just I'd wished that things could be more organized when it comes to site analysis and groupings. The information is really confusing.
Still I appreciate the intention of the lecturers for bringing us there to allow us to be close to Nature and understand the importance of the relationship between human with it. Thank you!
Project 2- part 2
A guard tower designed for the coastal guard. Group presentation board and model.
During this project I wanted to try something new and so I started drawing a series of sketches from the point of view of the coastal guard in order to visualize and experience how is it for him to actually use our tower.
Besides, I like how the lecturers actually gave us a chance to translate our 2D pictures into 3D conceptual models and then into our final models. It was a long process but it was quite tough for me since I have problems with translating my ideas into models but it was a good practice.
Project 3- Pantai Kerachut Retreat
Final model and presentation board.
I admit I was clueless for this project. My design was based on the ranger requirement and what I wanted to let the ranger to feel and the site analysis instead of a continution of inspiration and design principles from the previous project. Second I did not experiment much with the mock up models therefore my form stucks the same, vertical walls and roofs to cover it.
Thus I struggled a lot with the exterior of my retreat house. It wasn't capable to captivate the attention of others and the design was remained as a box.
Even though I was a little disappointed with the forms of the house which I think did not blend and adapt with its surrounding, I was glad I get to learn a lot of things through it.
Where's my mistakes and it's a good lesson for me to remember not to repeat it again the next time.
